Birthday Cat

Just from the image above, I’m sure you are wondering why a cat would wear a birthday hat. Well, that’s not just any cat you see, that’s Birthday Cat, and his story has affected they way we celebrate birthdays more than one might think. Birthday Cat was born on the the mysterious Island of the Great Felines, a magical place filled with cats just like him! Everyone on the island had some kind of special ability, and they were all in charge of different things and aspects of life. For example, Sleeping Cat is the one who came up with the suggestion that everyone should get at least 8 hours of sleep every night!

Now, given his name, you might think that Birthday Cat was in charge of just birthdays, but he actually was in charge of all kinds of celebrations! Birthdays, holidays, weddings, anniversaries, parties, he truly did it all! And not only that, because he was the cat of birthdays, his birthday was every single day! No matter the day, he was constantly planning, organizing, and celebrating absolutely everything.

Now, we may be used to celebrating our birthdays once a year, but this wasn’t always the case, and for a long time, humans actually didn’t celebrate their birthdays at all. Birthday cat however, had been celebrating every single day since before the dawn of time, and one can only imagine just how draining that would be. Even with his ability to go days at a time without sleeping, he still managed to be incredibly exhausted every day and even with his ability to withstand muscle and joint pain, his body still grew more and more tired as the days progressed.

VirtualOne day, when he could simply not stand it any longer, he skipped yet another of his own birthday celebrations and instead annouced to everyone that he was overworked and eshausted from having to plan and celebrate everything, and how it was unreasonable to expect him to celebrate his birthday every single day. He argued that because he had a birthday everyday, the celebration had lost meaning and excitement that other celebrations have because there is no anticipation in celebrating the same thing every day. After he was finished, shockingly, everyone took the time to actually think about Birthday Cat’s jobs and how unfair they had been to him.

And when asked for solutions to ease some of this pain, Birthday Cat came prepared with the perfect thing. He proposed that instead of celebrating his birthday everyday, everyone should celebrate their birthday once a year! That way everyone would have their own day of celebration that wasn’t painfully overwhelming. This not only lifted a lot of pressure of his back, but also have everyone else a fun alternative! The cats loved Birthday Cat’s idea, and they loved it so much that they even shared it with humans!

Birthday Cat became a well respected trail blazer on the Island of the Great Felines, and was praised for having the courage to stand up for himself. Everyone on the Island knows about his story, and what he did for birthdays. Nowadays, the immortal and all-knowing Birthday Cat has chosen to live a simple life as a house cat in California, going completely undetected as an extremely powerful creature. His lives his days in peace and quiet, since retired from his duties as a Great Feline, and will continue to do so for all of eternity.
